Kiyovu Sports takes Haringingo to FIFA over alleged contract breach

Kiyovu Sports has lodged a formal complaint with FIFA against former head coach Francis Haringingo, accusing him of breaching his contract.

The development follows Haringingo’s recent appointment as head coach of Rayon Sports FC, a move that has sparked controversy given he was still contractually tied to Kiyovu.

Kiyovu Sports argues that the Burundian tactician exited the club before the expiry of his contract, which was set to run until June, and proceeded to rejoin Rayon Sports without a formal release. The club maintains that this constitutes a breach of contract and has called on FIFA to intervene and issue a binding decision.

Reports indicate that Haringingo had initially requested a mutual termination of his contract, but Kiyovu declined, insisting he honour the remaining terms.

Subsequently, the coach is said to have submitted a resignation letter citing personal reasons and expressed willingness to compensate the club for the outstanding period of his deal.

Haringingo has since commenced his tenure at Rayon Sports, signing a contract that runs until the end of the 2026–27 season. He oversaw his first training session on March 31, 2026.

Addressing the controversy, the coach rejected accusations of wrongdoing, stating that his decision was driven by professional considerations rather than disloyalty.
