The deceased, identified as Rwamurima Diogene, 37, was discovered on the night of April 14, 2026, in a roadside trench in Rugarama Village, Rwesero Cell, Busasamana Sector, where he also resided.
He had recently been transferred to the High Council Court of Huye, having worked at the High Council Court of Nyamagabe for less than a week prior to the relocation.
The Executive Secretary of Busasamana Sector, Bizimana Egide, confirmed that a motorcycle taxi rider was the first to notice the victim. The rider reportedly found him still showing signs of life and immediately raised an alarm. An ambulance was dispatched to the scene, but medical personnel confirmed upon arrival that he had already died. Police and the Rwanda Investigation Bureau (RIB) later arrived, and the body was transported to Nyanza Hospital for further examination.
Preliminary accounts indicate that the motorcyclist had earlier encountered the victim along the road while transporting a passenger. At the time, the victim was reportedly in a distressed condition and appeared intoxicated. The rider continued his journey, saying he did not recognize him.
On his return along the same route, the motorcyclist later found the man lying in the trench and alerted nearby residents, who then contacted emergency services.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the death. The motorcyclist who first reported the incident has been detained by the Rwanda Investigation Bureau and is being held at Busasamana station for questioning.
