CanalBox Rwanda has issued an apology to its customers following widespread internet disruptions, pledging improved service delivery and enhanced network performance.

The fiber-optic internet provider came under pressure after many users reported unstable connections and slow speeds, prompting regulatory action from Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Authority.

In a statement, CanalBox acknowledged the critical role internet plays in daily life, apologizing for the inconvenience caused while commending customers for their patience.

The company attributed the disruption to a failure in a regional fiber backbone network, which affected multiple internet service providers across the region.

CanalBox said its technical teams, working alongside regional partners, undertook intensive efforts to restore services and secure the international connectivity infrastructure.

It added that services have now been largely stabilized in most areas, with increased bandwidth capacity introduced to strengthen reliability and prevent future outages.

As part of efforts to rebuild customer confidence, CanalBox announced that all subscribers will receive an additional seven days on their next subscription cycle.

The development follows recent sanctions imposed by RURA over poor service delivery that had sparked widespread customer dissatisfaction.
