The FERWAFA Referees Committee has suspended assistant referee Nsengiyumva Jean Paul for one year following misconduct during a Rwanda Premier League match.

The decision was announced on Monday, May 5, 2026, after reviewing the Matchday 29 fixture between Mukura VS&L and Rutsiro FC, played on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at Huye Stadium, which ended 2–1 in favour of Rutsiro.

Mukura VS&L had lodged a complaint with FERWAFA, alleging unfair treatment of their player Mbonyamahoro Serieux, who was reportedly kicked by the assistant referee after approaching him to question a penalty decision that players disputed.

Following an investigation that included match reports and video footage, the refereeing body found that the assistant referee acted in a manner inconsistent with professional conduct, resulting in a 12-month suspension.

In the same ruling, centre referee Nshimiyimana Rémy Victor was suspended for five matches over poor match management.

FERWAFA said the sanctions were based on refereeing ethics regulations, official match reports, and video evidence from the game.
