The Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) has graduated soldiers from its 8th Infantry Brigade after four months of advanced military training aimed at enhancing combat readiness, leadership capacity and operational effectiveness.

The training was conducted at the Nasho Military Training Centre in Kirehe District and concluded with a graduation ceremony presided over by the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen Mubarakh Muganga, on June 23.

The programme focused on sharpening tactical skills, strengthening command and control capabilities, and preparing troops to respond effectively to emerging security challenges.

Addressing the graduates, Gen Muganga delivered a message from President Paul Kagame, the Commander-in-Chief of the RDF, who commended the armed forces and other security agencies for their continued commitment to safeguarding national security.

President Kagame also congratulated the graduates and emphasized the importance of continuous professional development, noting that regular training remains a cornerstone of the RDF’s effectiveness and professionalism.

Gen Muganga said advanced training for land forces is essential in preparing soldiers to execute their duties efficiently and adapt to evolving security threats.

“The Rwanda Defence Force prepares soldiers comprehensively through mental development, physical fitness and intensive military training to ensure they remain ready at all times to accomplish their mission and defend the country,” he said.

He added that the programme went beyond military tactics and technical skills, instilling key values such as discipline, professionalism, integrity and adherence to RDF principles.

The graduates were urged to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the training in their daily assignments and to continue demonstrating exemplary conduct as they serve the nation.

The training forms part of RDF’s ongoing efforts to strengthen operational preparedness and maintain a highly professional force capable of responding to both national and regional security demands.
