Rayon Sports has confirmed that it will face Kenyan football giants Gor Mahia FC during its annual “Rayon Day” celebrations, scheduled for July 18, 2026, at Amahoro Stadium.

The announcement, made on Monday evening, June 28, 2026, puts an end to speculation surrounding the opponent for the high-profile fixture, which traditionally marks the club’s season launch and brings together thousands of supporters.

The event will also highlight Rayon Sports’ ongoing fan-driven fundraising initiative, “Ubururu bwacu, Agaciro Kacu,” through which supporters contribute towards the signing of a high-quality striker ahead of the new season.

Club officials say the campaign is aimed at strengthening the squad with a proven forward to improve the team’s attacking options for the upcoming campaign, according to interim president Murenzi Abdallah.

Rayon Sports has already been active in the transfer market, signing 10 players since the conclusion of last season, including six domestic players and four foreign recruits, as part of its squad rebuilding process.

Their opponents, Gor Mahia FC, arrive with an impressive record as one of East Africa’s most decorated clubs, having won 22 Kenyan Premier League titles, including the most recent edition, as well as eight FKF Cup trophies and three CECAFA Kagame Cup titles.
