Sudan’s football giants Al Hilal SC Omdurman have been unveiled as the main sponsors of the 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup after committing $100,000, equivalent to more than Rwf140 million, to support the regional tournament.

The sponsorship agreement was signed between Al Hilal SC, the Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA), and the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA), ahead of the competition that will be hosted in Rwanda.

The deal was signed by Al Hilal SC Chief Executive Officer Yassir Hassan, acting CECAFA President Jean Sseninde, and FERWAFA President Dr Shema Ngoga Fabrice.

Hassan said the club is committed to supporting the growth of regional football and expressed interest in maintaining the partnership for the next two years through annual contributions of the same amount.

The CECAFA Kagame Cup, which is supported by President Paul Kagame, is scheduled to take place in Rwanda from July 24 to August 7, 2026, with matches set to be played at Amahoro Stadium and Kigali Pele Stadium.

Rwanda is expected to host the competition for the third consecutive time if CECAFA approves the country’s request to continue staging the tournament over the next two years.

The 2026 edition will bring together 12 clubs from across East and Central Africa. Rwanda’s representatives, APR FC and Rayon Sports, have already learned their group opponents following the official draw held on Friday.

The partnership with Al Hilal is expected to boost the organisation of the tournament and enhance efforts to promote competitive football across the region.
