APR FC will begin their CECAFA Kagame Cup 2026 campaign against Kenyan side Gor Mahia after the regional football governing body released the tournament schedule.
The Council of East and Central African Football Associations (CECAFA) announced that the competition will take place from July 24 to August 7, 2026, with matches scheduled in Kigali.
The tournament will kick off on Friday, July 24, with Uganda’s Vipers SC facing Djibouti’s FC Garde Republicaine at Amahoro Stadium, before APR FC take on Gor Mahia in the evening.
APR FC will play their second group match on July 27 against FC Garde Republicaine at Kigali Pele Stadium before completing the group stage against Vipers SC on July 30 at Amahoro Stadium.
Rayon Sports, the other Rwandan representative, will start their campaign on July 26 against Zanzibar’s KVZ SC at Amahoro Stadium.
The Blues will then face Kenya’s Tusker FC on July 29 at Kigali Pele Stadium before concluding their group matches against Sudanese giants Al Hilal SC at Amahoro Stadium.
Two matches will be played each day during the group stage, with the semi-finals scheduled for August 4 at Kigali Pele Stadium. The third-place playoff and final will take place on August 7 at Amahoro Stadium.
The 2026 CECAFA Kagame Cup will feature 12 teams divided into three groups of four. The group winners and the best second-placed team will advance to the semi-finals, where the Group B winner will face the Group C winner, while the Group A winner will meet the best second-placed side.
The tournament returns to Rwanda, with the country hosting the region’s top clubs in the annual competition named in honour of former Rwandan President Juvénal Habyarimana.
