Rwanda earned more than $9.63 million, equivalent to over Rwf14 billion, from agricultural and livestock exports in just five days, as the sector continues to play a key role in generating foreign exchange and expanding the country’s presence in international markets.
Data from the National Agricultural Export Development Board (NAEB) shows that Rwanda exported 9,521 tonnes of agricultural products between July 13 and 17, 2026, including coffee, tea, vegetables, fruits, flowers and livestock products.
Livestock products led export earnings during the period, generating $2.74 million from 5,843 tonnes shipped to different markets, mainly in Africa.
Tea was the second-largest foreign exchange earner, with 1,823 tonnes exported and generating $2.68 million, while coffee exports contributed $2.42 million from 313 tonnes sold on international markets.
Vegetable exports amounted to 814 tonnes and earned $757,400, with products reaching markets in the United Kingdom, Netherlands, India, United Arab Emirates, France and several African countries.
Other agricultural products generated $647,900 from 386 tonnes exported to markets including the United Arab Emirates, Bangladesh and countries across Africa.
Fruit exports also contributed to the earnings, with 336 tonnes shipped abroad generating $350,700, mainly from markets in the United Arab Emirates and Africa.
Meanwhile, Rwanda exported seven tonnes of flowers during the same period, earning $41,162 from international buyers.
The latest figures highlight the growing contribution of agriculture to Rwanda’s export sector, with traditional commodities such as coffee and tea continuing to drive foreign exchange earnings while newer export categories help diversify the country’s international trade portfolio.
