Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) Chief of Defence Staff Gen. MK Mubarakh has received senior military delegations from Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe as the two countries deepen defence cooperation through knowledge-sharing and professional military exchanges.

The delegations, comprising senior officers and instructors from the Sri Lanka Defence Services Command and Staff College and senior officers from the Zimbabwe Staff College, concluded two-week study visits in Rwanda focused on learning from the country’s transformation journey, security sector development and the role of the RDF in national development and peacekeeping efforts.

During the engagements at RDF Headquarters in Kimihurura, Gen. Mubarakh highlighted the longstanding friendship between Rwanda and Sri Lanka, commending the contribution of Sri Lankan military institutions in enhancing the skills and professionalism of RDF officers through training opportunities.

He said military study visits provide an important platform for exchanging experiences, strengthening mutual understanding and identifying new areas of cooperation between defence institutions.

The RDF chief also held discussions with the Zimbabwean delegation, whose visit aimed to strengthen military relations and share Rwanda’s experiences in areas including security, good governance and national reconstruction.

Gen. Mubarakh said such exchanges reflect the growing partnership between Rwanda and Zimbabwe, adding that continued collaboration and sharing of expertise contribute to stronger and more effective defence institutions.
