APR Karate emerged as the overall winner of the 2026 Zanshin Karate Championship after a strong performance at the international tournament held at Kigali’s Petit Stade on Sunday.
The championship attracted more than 600 athletes from Rwanda, Kenya and Uganda, with competitors battling for honours across different age and weight categories.
APR Karate was represented by 19 athletes, who collected 14 medals in the senior category, including eight gold, five silver and one bronze.
The team also claimed two silver medals in the under-14 category, further strengthening its position as the tournament’s top-performing club.
The competition was organised by Zanshin Solution Sport in partnership with the Rwanda Karate Federation (FERWAKA), with support from sponsors including Kampala University and Kenya Hospital University.
The 2026 edition was the fourth time the Zanshin Karate Championship had been held. The first three editions took place in Huye District in Rwanda’s Southern Province, where Zanshin Solution Sport is headquartered.
