APR FC continued their preparations for the 2026/27 season in impressive fashion after securing a convincing 3-0 victory over Sudanese side Al Merrikh SC in a friendly at Kigali Pelé Stadium on Monday evening.
The match, played on August 17, saw APR FC produce a strong attacking display as they bounced back from their previous 1-0 defeat to Sunrise FC.
Amani Kouadiokan Michel Breygeneve, Byiringiro Jean Gilbert and Fidali Uwiyaremye were on target for the Rwandan champions.
Amani continued his impressive form after providing two assists in APR FC’s 2-1 friendly victory over Etincelles, while Uwiyaremye, who also scored in that match, was once again on the scoresheet.
The victory strengthens APR FC’s preparations for the 2026/27 campaign, with the club also set to compete in the CAF Champions League. The Rwandan champions will face Aigles du Congo in the first preliminary round.
Al Merrikh are also preparing for continental competition after winning the Sudanese league title. The Sudanese champions will face Zambia’s Power Dynamos in the first preliminary round of the CAF Champions League.
APR FC and Al Merrikh are expected to meet again in the BK Pro League on December 19, 2026, in a Matchday 14 fixture at Kigali Pelé Stadium.
