Rwanda’s media fraternity sees a wave of weddings in summer 2026

Summer 2026 has turned into a memorable wedding season for Rwanda’s media fraternity, with at least eight journalists and media professionals tying the knot in less than three months, while another prominent media couple is preparing to wed in September.

The season has brought together colleagues from different newsrooms, including two couples who previously worked together.

Ruzindana Janvier and Umukazana Germaine

Kigali Today journalists Ruzindana Janvier and Umukazana Germaine exchanged vows on August 8, 2026, in Rubavu District, Western Province.

Their marriage is among the few in Rwanda’s media industry involving two journalists who work in the same profession.

Karambizi Clement and Irakoze Promesse

RBA journalists Karambizi Clement and Irakoze Promesse got married on August 15, 2026.

Karambizi is a news anchor on Television Rwanda, while Irakoze has been working with presenter Gentil Gedeon Ntirenganya on Radio Rwanda’s “Bwakeye Bute?” programme.

The couple previously worked together at Radio Huye before moving to RBA headquarters in Kacyiru, Kigali.

M. Iréné and Nishimwe Liliane

Entertainment journalist Murindahabi Iréné, popularly known as M. Iréné, married Nishimwe Liliane on August 15 at Intare Arena in Gisozi.

The couple had earlier formalised their marriage in a civil ceremony in Gishari Sector, Rwamagana District.

M. Iréné is known for his entertainment journalism work through MI Empire and has previously worked with Magic FM, Isango Star and Isibo TV.

His wedding attracted several personalities from Rwanda’s entertainment industry.

Abel Deus Kwizera and Mukabutera Sandrine

Sports journalist Abel Deus Kwizera, popularly known as “Cardinal,” married Mukabutera Sandrine on August 15.

The ceremony, held at Don De Dieu Garden in Kicukiro, was attended by fellow journalists, particularly sports reporters and colleagues from B&B Kigali FM.

Kwizera has also previously worked with Flash FM and Radio/TV10.

Uwitonze Providence Shadia and Capt. Bizumuremyi Edson

Television Rwanda journalist Uwitonze Providence Shadia married Capt. Bizumuremyi Edson on July 5, 2026.

Shadia joined Television Rwanda after previously working at TV1.

Robert Cyubahiro McKenna and Uwase Louise

RBA journalist Robert Cyubahiro McKenna married Uwase Louise on July 11 at La Palisse in Gashora, Bugesera District.

McKenna previously worked at Royal FM before joining RBA, where he currently presents “Magic Drive” on Magic FM.

Antonio and Uwera Joyeuse

Sports journalist Uwanyirawe Antoine, popularly known as Antonio, married Uwera Joyeuse on July 11.

Their wedding celebrations were held at Kamazuru Village in Muhanga before they exchanged vows at the Minor Basilica of Kabgayi.

Antonio is known for his sports journalism work at BTN TV.

Uwase Alliah and Buanga Pilote

Uwase Alliah, who works in communications and media relations at Kigali FC, formerly AS Kigali, married Buanga Pilote on July 19.

Buanga, who lives in the United States, proposed to Uwase in 2025, a year before their wedding.

Before joining Kigali FC, Uwase worked with several media organisations, including IGIHE.

Hiti and Ida set for September wedding

The wedding season will continue into September, with sports journalists Hitimana Jean Claude, popularly known as Hiti, and Ishimwe Adelaide, known as Ida, set to marry on September 5, 2026.

The two previously worked together at Radio/TV10 on the sports programme “10 Sports Urukiko.” Ida later left the station after four years of working on various sports programmes.

Their upcoming wedding will add another chapter to what has been a notably busy summer for Rwanda’s media fraternity.
