Rwanda international striker Mbonyumwami Taiba has completed a move to Ethiopian Coffee SC, signing a one-year contract after leaving Marine FC.
The Ethiopian club unveiled Taiba alongside nine other new signings on Sunday, August 23, as it began preparations for the 2026/27 season.
Taiba arrives in Ethiopia after a standout 2025/26 campaign with Marine FC, scoring 17 goals and providing five assists in 27 Rwanda Premier League appearances.
His goal tally made him the highest-scoring Rwandan player in the league last season and earned him a place in the league’s Team of the Season.
The striker had attracted interest from several clubs following his departure from Marine FC, including Police FC in Rwanda and teams abroad, but ultimately chose Ethiopian Coffee.
Taiba, who is also part of the Rwanda national team, will now begin a new chapter in the Ethiopian Premier League.
Ethiopian Coffee finished eighth in the 20-team Ethiopian Premier League last season.
Founded in 1976, the Addis Ababa-based club has won the Ethiopian league title twice, in 1997 and 2011.
