Rwanda international defender Rwatubyaye Abdul has returned to North Macedonia after joining newly promoted top-flight side KF Shkëndija Haraçinë 77.
The 29-year-old defender was officially unveiled by the club on August 25, alongside experienced forward Remzifaik Selmani. The club confirmed the two signings as part of its preparations for its debut season in the North Macedonian First League.
Rwatubyaye is no stranger to North Macedonian football. He previously played for FC Shkupi, helping the club win the 2021/22 league title, and later featured for Brera Strumica during the 2024/25 season.
His latest move comes after a spell with Libya’s Al-Soqour Club and gives him another opportunity to establish himself in European football.
Shkëndija Haraçinë secured promotion to the country’s top division after winning the promotion playoff against Pelister in May 2026. The club is now competing in the 2026/27 First League season.
Rwatubyaye began his senior career in Rwanda with Isonga FC before joining APR FC and later Rayon Sports. With Rayon Sports, he helped the club win the 2019 Rwanda Premier League title and reach the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
He also captained Rayon Sports to the 2023 Peace Cup, when the club defeated APR FC 1–0 in the final.
The defender subsequently pursued an international career in the United States and Europe, with spells at Colorado Rapids, FC Shkupi, Brera Strumica and clubs in Afghanistan and Libya.
Rwatubyaye has earned 32 caps for Rwanda and scored three international goals, according to Transfermarkt.
His return to North Macedonia adds another chapter to a career that has taken him across several football leagues, while his new club begins life among the country’s top-flight teams.
