Police FC defeated Rayon Sports 4-2 on penalties after a goalless draw to reach the final of the FERWAFA Turbo King Super Cup 2026, ending Rayon Sports’ nine-match winning run.
The decisive semi-final at Kigali Pelé Stadium went all the way to a penalty shootout after neither side could find the breakthrough during 90 minutes.
Police FC will face Kiyovu Sports in the final after Kiyovu defeated Mukura VS&L 1-0 in the other semi-final.
Rayon Sports entered the match seeking a 10th consecutive victory since beginning preparations for the 2026/27 season, while Police FC were playing their first competitive match of the new campaign.
Both sides started aggressively, with Rayon Sports building most of its attacks from the wings while Police FC looked to exploit spaces through the centre of the pitch.
The two teams created chances in the opening half, but neither could convert. Police FC came particularly close on several occasions, only for Rayon Sports goalkeeper Dande Junior to keep them at bay.
The first half ended goalless.
Rayon Sports coach Haringingo Francis Christian made an early second-half change, replacing Tony Kitoga with Iradukunda Elie Tatou. The substitution gave Rayon more attacking momentum, particularly down the flank.
Police FC, however, remained compact at the back, with Nsabimana Eric “Zidane”, Isaac Eze, Mudahemuka Jean de Dieu and Ndizeye Samuel helping to frustrate Rayon’s attacks. Goalkeeper Niyongira Patience also produced key saves.
With neither team able to score after 90 minutes, the tie went to a penalty shootout under the competition rules.
Police FC missed their opening penalty through substitute Manishimwe Djabel, whose effort was saved by Dande Junior. Rayon Sports defender Nshuti Didier then missed Rayon’s first attempt, with Niyongira Patience making the save.
Nshimirimana Ismael “Pitchou” converted Police FC’s second penalty, while Nisingizwe Christian scored for Rayon Sports.
Ndayishimiye Dieudonne then scored Police FC’s third, while Kameni Herman Junior hit the post with Rayon’s third attempt.
Kwitonda Alain “Bacca” converted Police’s fourth penalty and Muhoza Daniel scored for Rayon Sports.
Police FC finally sealed victory when Mudahemuka Jean de Dieu converted the decisive fifth penalty, sending his team through 4-2.
The result brought an end to Rayon Sports’ run of nine consecutive victories and sent Police FC into the Super Cup final against Kiyovu Sports.
Police FC are seeking their second Super Cup title after winning the competition in 2024, while Kiyovu Sports will be chasing their first title.
