Rwandan peacekeepers serving under the United Nations mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) have been awarded UN medals in recognition of their dedication and contribution to peace and security in the country.
The medals were presented to members of RWANBATT-2 during a ceremony held at the Bossembele Military Camp, honouring their professionalism, commitment and service in support of peace and stability in the Central African Republic.
The ceremony was presided over by MINUSCA Deputy Force Commander Maj Gen Maychel Asmi and brought together senior military and civilian officials.
Among those in attendance were Ombella-M’Poko Governor Joseph Dokombo and MINUSCA Western Sector Commander Brig Gen Ganselem Lkhagvasuren.
Also present were Brig Gen Franco Rutagengwa, commander of troops from different countries serving in Bangui; Rwanda’s military representative in the Central African Republic, Col Alphonse Gahima; and members of the Rwandan community in the country.
The recognition highlights the role of Rwandan peacekeepers in supporting MINUSCA’s mandate to promote peace, security and stability in the Central African Republic.
RWANBATT-2 is among Rwandan troops deployed under the UN mission as part of Rwanda’s continued contribution to international peacekeeping operations.
