Four Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) soldiers have graduated from Türkiye’s National Defence University and been commissioned as second lieutenants.
The graduation ceremony was held in Ankara on August 30, 2026, as Türkiye marked its annual Victory Day celebrations.
The graduates are Byiringiro Arnauld, Cyizere Prince, Mbanzabugabo Daniel and Mugabe Robert, who completed military studies at Türkiye’s Military Academy and Air Force Academy.
They were commissioned after taking their oath and receiving their new assignments from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Rwanda’s Ambassador to Türkiye, Lt Gen (Rtd) Charles Kayonga, and the Defence Attaché at the Rwandan Embassy, Colonel JP Rulisa, attended the ceremony.
The graduation highlights the growing military education and training cooperation between Rwanda and Türkiye, with Rwandan officers receiving professional training through Türkiye’s military institutions.
The four officers will return to their duties as commissioned officers in the RDF, bringing with them the training and experience gained during their studies in Türkiye.
