The Rwanda Bar Association has appointed Umuhoza Barbara as its new Secretary General, while William Niyongabo has been named Chief Operating Officer (COO).
The changes were announced in a statement issued by the association, which said the appointments are intended to strengthen governance, improve operational efficiency and enhance services to its members.
As Secretary General, Umuhoza will oversee the overall operations of the association’s Secretariat and coordinate the implementation of decisions taken by the Governing Council.
She will also supervise the association’s day-to-day activities and represent it when authorised by the President.
Her responsibilities will further include resource mobilisation, strengthening communication and fostering collaboration between the association and its partners.
Niyongabo, as COO, will work closely with the Secretary General to coordinate and implement the association’s programmes and activities.
His role will focus on strengthening internal operations and ensuring that services to members are delivered efficiently.
The association said it expects the experience and expertise of the new leadership to contribute to the development of the legal profession and improve its overall performance.
It also called on members, staff and partners to support the new leadership as it carries out its mandate.
