The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) has announced that elections for a new president will be held in January 2027, following the resignation of Shema Ngoga Fabrice.
FERWAFA has also appointed lawyer Claudine Gasarabwe as interim president, a role she will hold until the new election is conducted.
Shema resigned on September 29, 2026, after 13 months at the helm of the federation. In a letter submitted to the FERWAFA General Assembly, he said his resignation would take effect immediately.
Shema was elected FERWAFA president in 2025, with Gasarabwe serving as his first vice president in charge of finance and administration.
Gasarabwe will lead the federation on an interim basis until the General Assembly convenes to elect a new president in January 2027.
