Egyptian side Zamalek SC arrived in Kigali on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, ahead of their upcoming match against APR FC.

The two teams will meet in the first leg of the second qualifying round of the CAF Champions League at Amahoro Stadium on Friday, October 16.

Upon arrival, Zamalek were seen carrying supplies they would need during their three-day stay in Rwanda and on match day.

The supplies included food and drinks, reportedly brought to ensure the team consumes only items it can trust.

It is common for some Arab football clubs to travel with their own food and drinks, amid concerns about possible food contamination or other interference that could affect their performance.

Zamalek reached the second qualifying round of Africa’s premier club competition after eliminating Djibouti’s AS Port, while APR FC advanced after knocking out Les Aigles du Congo.

The two sides have faced each other six times in the competition, with Zamalek winning four matches, APR FC claiming one victory and the other ending in a draw.

APR FC’s only victory over Zamalek came in Kigali in 2004, when the Rwandan side won 4-1.

APR FC will be hoping to overcome the Egyptian giants and move closer to reaching the CAF Champions League group stage, a feat the Rwandan club has never achieved.
