The Confederation of African Cycling (CAC) has announced that Rwanda will host the 2025 African Cycling Excellence Awards, a landmark event that will celebrate the continent’s best cyclists and national teams.

The ceremony is scheduled to take place in Kigali on November 28th and 29th, at the same iconic venues that hosted the World Cycling Championships, first ever held on African land.

Building on the success of the UCI World Championship 2025, the Award Ceremony will bring together cycling families from across Africa for a celebration of excellence in the sport.

According to the CAC “This event will, for the first time, offer African champions the recognition they deserve,” emphasizing the importance of honoring athletes who have elevated the image of African cycling on the world stage.

Organized under the leadership of the President of the CAC and coordinated by the ACEA Secretariat, the event will recognize the top African cyclists of the year both men and women, professionals and amateurs.

Award Categories

The 2025 African Cycling Excellence Awards will feature a range of categories designed to honor the finest athletes and teams across the continent.

At the continental level, the ceremony will recognize the Best Male Cyclist (all categories), the Best Female Elite Cyclist, the Best Amateur Male Cyclist, and the Best African National Cycling Team.

As the host nation, Rwanda will also have the privilege of additional award categories created to celebrate both national and regional excellence.

These include the Best Rwandan Elite Male Cyclist and the Best Rwandan Elite Female Cyclist, honoring the country’s outstanding homegrown riders.

Furthermore, two honorary trophies will be presented to recognize regional achievement within the East African, the Honorary Trophy for the Best Male and the Best Female Cyclist from the EAC.

The ceremony will be held in Rwanda for the first two years, 2025 and 2026, before rotating to other African countries in the years that follow.
