The Mayor of Kigali, Samuel Dusengiyumva, has urged young job seekers to view employment not merely as something to receive, but as an opportunity to work diligently and deliver results, creating opportunities for themselves and others.

He made the remarks while addressing youth and participants from across the city at the 16th edition of Kigali Job Net, a platform connecting employers with job seekers. The event took place at Camp Kigali on Thursday, 27 November 2025.

Kigali Job Net provides a space for job seekers to learn, showcase their skills, and engage directly with employers.

Mayor Dusengiyumva emphasized that the platform goes beyond networking; it brings together job seekers, employers, investors, and government representatives to build an inclusive and sustainable labor market.

He praised the youth and other participants for their enthusiasm and commitment, encouraging them to perform excellently once they secure employment.

“Your eagerness to contribute is clear, and we trust that those who get jobs will work diligently,” he said.

The Mayor also urged young people to move beyond the old mindset of simply “seeking a job” and instead focus on producing tangible results.

“Getting a job is one thing, but delivering results is what matters. When you start working, give your best effort to create value. This not only benefits you but also opens opportunities for others,” he explained.

He highlighted Kigali City’s ongoing efforts to promote business activities, industrial growth, and recognition of individual talents, encouraging innovation and skill development to create more opportunities.

“As the capital city of Rwanda, Kigali continues implementing initiatives that generate employment for our youth,” he added.

Reflecting on the impact of previous Job Net editions, Dusengiyumva shared that the June 2025 event enabled 231 participants to secure permanent jobs, 256 to find temporary work, 109 to access internships, and 1,892 to receive training in areas such as entrepreneurship, ICT, media production, and financial management.

He concluded by thanking all institutions that contributed to the success of Job Net, including Private Sector and other partners.
