The Rwandan Senate will embark on a nationwide tour from January 20 to 28, 2026, to engage directly with citizens and assess livestock farming initiatives across all districts.

Senate President Dr. Kalinda François-Xavier said the visit aims to understand how communities participate in livestock farming and how animal products contribute to improving livelihoods. “Our goal is to meet citizens where they live, learn about their livestock practices, and see how it impacts their quality of life,” he said.

During the tour, senators will focus on key issues such as animal care, access to feed, and other inputs essential for achieving optimal production. “When animals are properly cared for, they provide sufficient output, helping communities secure food and address other challenges,” Dr. Kalinda explained.

Before visiting districts, the senators will meet with the Minister of Agriculture and Animal Resources to review Rwanda’s national livestock development plan, discuss achievements, identify challenges, and plan strategies to address them.

The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to promote livestock farming as a profession that strengthens livelihoods and contributes to Rwanda’s economic growth.
