Gisagara man arrested for allegedly killing wife after domestic dispute

A 21-year-old man from Gisagara District has been arrested over the alleged killing of his 20-year-old wife at their home.

The incident reportedly occurred on January 22, 2026, around 11:00 pm in Kadurumba Village, Munazi Cell, Save Sector. The suspect is under investigation by the Huye Intermediate Prosecution Authority.

According to the prosecution, the man admitted to assaulting his wife after a quarrel, claiming he became angry when she allegedly insulted him and had not prepared food despite receiving money for household expenses. Neighbours later found the victim dead.

If convicted of murder, the suspect faces life imprisonment, under Article 107 of Law No. 68/2018, which governs criminal offences and penalties in Rwanda.
