The National Institute of Statistics of Rwanda (NISR) reports that industrial production increased by 3.7% in February 2026 compared to the same period in 2025, signaling continued growth in the country’s industrial sector.
The data, released on April 14, 2026, shows broad-based growth across key sub-sectors.
Mining and quarrying increased by 3.1%, while manufacturing recorded a strong growth of 12.4%, making it the main driver of overall industrial expansion.
Electricity generation rose by 9.7%, and water supply and waste management increased by 1.9%.
Within manufacturing, higher output of beverages and tobacco products (up 4.7%) and machinery, fabricated metal products, and related industries (up 3.0%) contributed significantly to the growth.
However, the textile, clothing, and leather sub-sector declined by 0.9%, indicating mixed performance across industries.
The report also highlights long-term growth in industrial value, which rose to Rwf 1,142.4 billion in 2024, up from Rwf 442.1 billion in 2017, reflecting sustained industrial expansion over time.
