Ambassador Shakilla Umutoni has formally presented copies of her letters of credence to Tunisia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Ali Nafti, officially assuming her role as Rwanda’s ambassador to Tunisia.

The ceremony took place on April 14, 2026, and was followed by discussions focused on strengthening the longstanding relations between Rwanda and Tunisia and exploring new avenues of cooperation.

Both sides reaffirmed the positive state of bilateral relations, which continue to expand across key sectors including aviation, health, security, technology, and broader development cooperation.

Rwanda and Tunisia have in recent years maintained regular diplomatic engagement aimed at deepening collaboration. In February 2020, the two countries signed an air services agreement designed to open their respective airspaces and facilitate air connectivity between them.

More recently, in March 2025, Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Olivier Nduhungirehe, held talks with Tunisia’s Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Nafti on regional security, development priorities, and strengthening bilateral relations.
