APR FC midfielder Dauda Yussif Seidu has publicly expressed his willingness to represent Rwanda’s national football team, Amavubi, if given the opportunity.
The 26-year-old Ghanaian made the remarks on Sunday, May 3, 2026, during a live TikTok session where he interacted with fans alongside his APR FC teammate, striker Mamadou Sy.
During the session, Sy informed him that fans had been calling for him to join Amavubi. Yussif responded without hesitation, saying: “I’m ready, I’m ready—I’m waiting.”
The midfielder has emerged as one of the standout performers in the Rwanda Premier League, earning recognition for his consistency and influence at APR FC. His performances have also drawn praise from fellow professionals, including Al Hilal SC’s Jean Claude Girumugisha, who recently described him as one of the best players in Rwanda.
Under Rwanda’s nationality law, foreign nationals may be granted citizenship based on exceptional talent or contribution, including in sports.
However, Yussif’s potential switch to represent Rwanda would depend on meeting FIFA eligibility requirements governing national team representation.
FIFA regulations stipulate that a player who has not played for another national team must meet at least one of several criteria, including being born in the country, having a parent or grandparent born there, or residing continuously in the country for at least five years after the age of 18.
While Yussif’s interest may fuel excitement among fans, his eligibility will ultimately hinge on compliance with both national citizenship provisions and FIFA rules.
