President Paul Kagame has commended Arsenal FC for advancing to the final of the UEFA Champions League, following a hard-fought 2–1 aggregate victory over Atlético Madrid.
In a message shared on X on Tuesday night, Kagame described the encounter as a high-quality contest between clubs linked to Rwanda through the Visit Rwanda campaign, using the moment to spotlight the country’s growing global sports partnerships.
“It was a great match between teams that partner with Visit Rwanda. Congratulations to Arsenal FC on the win and for reaching the final. May the best Visit Rwanda partner team win,” he wrote.
Arsenal now awaits the winner between Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, who face off on Wednesday, with both sides also maintaining strategic ties with Rwanda—PSG through tourism branding and Bayern Munich via youth football development initiatives.
The North London side returns to the Champions League final for the first time since 2006, when they narrowly lost 2–1 to FC Barcelona, marking a significant milestone in the club’s European campaign and amplifying the visibility of Rwanda’s sports-driven diplomacy.
Great match between Visit Rwanda partner teams @Atleti and @Arsenal.
