Rwanda Premier League has confirmed that two separate trophies will be awarded at the end of the 2025/2026 BK Pro League season following growing debate over the league title and continental qualification slots.

In a statement released on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, RPL clarified that the club finishing top of the overall league standings — including guest teams from Sudan — will be crowned “BK Pro League Champions 2025/2026”.

However, the highest-ranked Rwandan club will receive a separate title of “BK Pro League National Champions” and will officially represent Rwanda in the 2026/2027 CAF Champions League.

The clarification follows remarks by Fabrice Shema Ngoga, who recently stated that the overall league trophy would be awarded to the team finishing first, even if it is a Sudanese club participating in the competition.

The comments sparked debate among local football fans, particularly regarding whether APR FC would receive a trophy if it finishes as the best Rwandan side while also claiming the league’s top domestic cash prize of Rwf 80 million.

RPL stressed that while guest clubs from Sudan are eligible to win the overall league trophy, they will not receive prize money reserved for domestic clubs.

The league body also confirmed that if the Rwandan league champions win the Peace Cup, the next best-placed Rwandan club in the league standings will qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup in line with FERWAFA competition regulations.

Two trophies will be awarded at the end of the 2025/2026 BK Pro League season following clarification by Rwanda Premier League.
APR FC are the defending league champions and currently lead all Rwandan clubs in the BK Pro League standings.
