Plans for the final farewell of Karasira Aimable Uzaramba, widely known as Prof. Nigga, have been announced by his family and close friends following his death earlier this month.

Karasira, a former university lecturer and musician, was confirmed dead on 6 May 2026 by authorities at the correctional facility where he had been held. Reports indicated he died after complications linked to an overdose of medication he had been taking.

According to close associates, a memorial service celebrating his life is scheduled for the evening of 13 May 2026 at Saint Etienne Hall in Biryogo, while his burial will take place on Thursday, 14 May 2026.

The programme indicates that his body will be collected from Kacyiru Hospital (RFI), followed by a farewell ceremony at Saint Etienne Hall. A requiem Mass will then be held at Regina Pacis Catholic Parish before burial at Rusororo Cemetery.

Karasira had spent several years in legal proceedings and was previously convicted by the Nyanza High Court chamber, which found him guilty of one of the charges brought by the prosecution, sentencing him to five years in prison.

He died on the day he was expected to complete his sentence, although the prosecution had lodged an appeal against the ruling.

He was 48 years old. Throughout his public life, Karasira spoke openly about health challenges, including mental health struggles, which he linked to traumatic experiences in his family history.

Earlier medical assessments had concluded that while he had health issues, he remained fit to stand trial and serve his sentence.

Karasira was widely known for his online presence, particularly on YouTube, where he commented on social and political issues, drawing both supporters and critics.

His death has continued to attract public attention, closing the chapter on a controversial figure whose life spanned academia, music, and digital commentary.
