Rwanda generated more than Rwf21 billion from agriculture and livestock exports within just five days, highlighting the continued growth of the country’s export sector and rising demand for Rwandan produce on international markets.
According to a new report released by National Agricultural Export Development Board, the country exported more than 10,154 tonnes of agricultural and livestock products between May 11 and 15, 2026.
Coffee exports generated over Rwf2.1 billion from 288 tonnes shipped abroad, while tea exports brought in more than Rwf4.2 billion, reinforcing the sector’s position among Rwanda’s top foreign exchange earners.
The report further indicates that vegetable exports totaling 316 tonnes earned the country over Rwf630 million during the five-day period.
Fruit exports reached 462 tonnes, generating more than Rwf454 million, while 14 tonnes of flowers exported to international markets earned over Rwf113 million.
Other agricultural commodities—including tubers, legumes, cereals, and related produce—accounted for the largest export volume at 7,795 tonnes, generating more than Rwf6.6 billion.
In the livestock sector, Rwanda exported 270 tonnes of livestock and livestock products, earning over Rwf565 million.
The latest figures reflect Rwanda’s ongoing efforts to strengthen agricultural value chains, diversify export products, and expand access to regional and global markets as the country seeks to boost export revenues and rural incomes.
