President Paul Kagame has promoted 742 officers of the Rwanda Correctional Service (RCS), retired 25 personnel, dismissed 296 officers, and discharged five others from service.
According to a statement released by RCS, the promoted personnel include senior officers, junior officers, non-commissioned officers, and warders.
Among senior officers, 46 officers holding the rank of Superintendent were promoted to Senior Superintendent.
In the junior officers’ category, 37 Chief Inspectors were promoted to Superintendent, while 18 Inspectors were elevated to the rank of Chief Inspector. Another 10 Assistant Inspectors were promoted to Inspector.
Among non-commissioned officers and warders, 188 Senior Sergeants were promoted to Chief Sergeant, 67 Sergeants were elevated to Senior Sergeant, and 48 Corporals were promoted to Sergeant. In addition, 328 Warders were promoted to the rank of Corporal.
The statement further indicated that President Kagame placed several officers into retirement, including Assistant Commissioner Moses Ntawiheba, Senior Superintendent Christine Aloys Gakuba, and Superintendent Josephine Nyiranteziryayo.
They were joined by 22 non-commissioned officers, bringing the total number of retired personnel to 25.
The Head of State also discharged five senior and junior officers from service.
RCS further announced that 296 personnel were dismissed from the institution, including six senior officers, 13 junior officers, and 277 non-commissioned officers and warders.
