The Minister of Local Government, Dominique Habimana, has called on the District Administrative Security Support Organ (DASSO) to strengthen professionalism in addressing issues that affect public safety and order.
He made the remarks on Monday, June 8, 2026, during a meeting with DASSO coordinators from all districts across the country.
The meeting reviewed the institution’s performance and outlined strategies to further improve the execution of its mandate.
Minister Habimana urged DASSO coordinators to uphold key institutional values, including integrity, discipline, and professionalism in their daily work.
“DASSO must be an institution that citizens trust and respect because of the quality of services it provides in ensuring their security,” he said.
He commended the progress made by DASSO in supporting other security organs in maintaining public safety, preventing crime, and assisting citizens. However, he emphasized the need to further enhance its effectiveness and strengthen coordination with local authorities and other security agencies.
The discussions also focused on capacity building for DASSO personnel through training and continuous skills development, strengthening collaboration between DASSO, local government structures, and security organs, as well as reinforcing preventive approaches to crime before it occurs.
