Rayon Sports have completed the signing of Burundian international Muderi Akbar after the midfielder’s contract with Gasogi United came to an end.
The 23-year-old, who primarily plays as a central midfielder but is also capable of operating in a defensive role, was officially unveiled as the club’s latest recruit on Monday night.
Muderi is a regular member of Burundi’s national team and joined the Rwanda Premier League ahead of the 2023/24 season after moving from Burundian side Le Messager FC de Ngozi to Gasogi United.
He becomes Rayon Sports’ 13th signing of the current transfer window and the club’s seventh foreign recruit this summer. The others are Boris Gbenou, Matumona Kanda Abbel, Charles Tchouplau, Antonio Atisso Kodjo, Ibrahim Djiangarey and Djiguiba Issa.
The Blues have also bolstered their squad with six Rwandan signings: Ndayishimiye Didier, Nshuti Didier, Nisingizwe Christian, Nkundimana Fabio, Nizeyimana Moubarak and Muhoza Daniel.
In addition to the new arrivals, Rayon Sports have renewed the contracts of defenders Nshimiyimana Emmanuel “Kabange” and Ganijuru Elie Ishimwe.
The club is currently holding a pre-season training camp in Gicumbi as preparations intensify for Rayon Day, where they will take on Kenyan giants Gor Mahia, before shifting focus to the CECAFA Kagame Cup, which will be hosted in Rwanda from July 24 to August 8, 2026.
