The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) has announced registration fees and guidelines for clubs preparing for the 2026/27 Rwanda Premier League season, introducing different charges for local and foreign players as teams finalize their squads.

According to the regulations released on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, clubs will pay Rwf2 million to register a foreign player, while the registration fee for a Rwandan player has been set at Rwf500,000.

FERWAFA also announced fees for coaches, with clubs required to pay Rwf500,000 to register a foreign coach and Rwf100,000 for a Rwandan coach.

The federation set the first registration period from June 10 to August 30, 2026, while the second window will run from January 3 to January 31, 2027.

FERWAFA said all players must have valid employment contracts signed by both parties, certified by a notary and submitted to the federation in line with football regulations.

Clubs will also be required to submit medical examination reports and proof of health insurance for every player before registration is approved.

Under the new rules, teams will be allowed to loan out a maximum of six players and register up to three loaned players. Loan agreements will not be permitted to exceed one year.

In a move aimed at strengthening youth development, FERWAFA has also introduced a requirement for every Rwanda Premier League club to include at least three players aged below 21 years in their squads for the 2026/27 season.

The new guidelines come as top-flight clubs intensify preparations for the upcoming campaign, with several teams already making changes to their squads through new signings, contract renewals and departures.
