Twenty-six senior officers from Rwanda’s security institutions are attending a Defence Management Training programme aimed at strengthening leadership, strategic planning, and decision-making skills.
The participants are drawn from the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), Rwanda National Police (RNP), Rwanda Correctional Service (RCS), and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The training is being conducted at the RDF Command and Staff College in Musanze District.
The programme started with an online component before moving to an in-person session at the college. It is the third edition of a senior leadership training series organised through a partnership between the RDF Command and Staff College and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR).
The training seeks to enhance participants’ capacity to effectively manage defence institutions, operations, and resources, both during peacetime and in other exceptional circumstances.
It also focuses on equipping senior officials with modern approaches to governance, leadership, and effective decision-making within the security sector.
