Chief Justice Domitilla Mukantaganzwa has urged judges, court registrars, and legal researchers to strengthen their knowledge of land and family laws to improve the quality and consistency of judicial decisions.
She made the remarks on Monday while launching a nationwide training programme aimed at harmonising the interpretation and application of laws governing family matters and land disputes among justice sector professionals.
Mukantaganzwa said family and land-related disputes account for a large share of civil cases handled by courts, making it important for legal practitioners to have a shared understanding of the relevant laws.
“Family and land cases are among the most frequently filed civil cases. These trainings are designed to build a common understanding so that similar cases are resolved in a consistent manner across courts,” she said.
She encouraged participants to use the training as an opportunity to exchange experiences, discuss challenges faced during case analysis, and develop practical solutions that can further improve the delivery of justice.
The training is expected to enhance the capacity of judges, court registrars, and legal researchers while promoting uniform interpretation of the law and helping citizens access fair, efficient, and timely justice.
