A delegation of officers from the Zimbabwe Staff College has begun a two-week study visit to Rwanda aimed at strengthening defence cooperation and learning from the Rwanda Defence Force’s (RDF) experience in security sector transformation and institution building.
The visit included a tour of the Ministry of Defence and the RDF Headquarters on Tuesday, where the delegation was received by the Director General for International Military Cooperation and RDF spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Patrick Karuretwa.
Karuretwa briefed the visiting officers on the evolution of the RDF, tracing its transformation from a liberation force into a professional military that plays a central role in safeguarding national security and supporting Rwanda’s development.
He also highlighted the RDF’s contribution to peace support operations across Africa, underscoring its role in promoting regional stability and international peacekeeping.
The visit forms part of ongoing military engagement between Rwanda and Zimbabwe and is expected to enhance defence cooperation while offering the delegation an opportunity to study Rwanda’s approach to security, governance and institutional development.
