Rwanda Women’s Premier League champions Rayon Sports WFC have released five players as the club prepares for the 2026/27 season and upcoming continental competition.
The players leaving the club are Nahimana Nasra, Umwiza Martha, Keza Angelique, Mukamana Jeanette and Cameroonian striker Matapa Naoussie Omerie Delsir.
The squad changes are part of Rayon Sports’ preparations to strengthen the team ahead of a busy season, including the CECAFA qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League.
The club has already added new faces to its squad, including goalkeeper Khwaka Valentine, midfielder Zaina Namuleme, Uzayisenga Lydia and striker Ishimwe Mizero Evelyn.
Rayon Sports has also secured the services of several key players by renewing contracts with captain Uwase Andersene, vice-captain Niyonshuti Emerance, Mukantaganira Joselyne, Ndakimana Angeline, Ukwinkunda Jeanette, Eyang Nguema Coralie Odette and Mukeshimana Dorothée.
Coach Rwaka Claude’s team is currently in preparation for the new campaign, with its immediate focus on the CECAFA Women’s Champions League qualifiers scheduled to be held in Rwanda from August 21 to 31.
The Rwandan champions have been placed in Group A alongside Yei Joint Stars of South Sudan, Mafunzo SC of Zanzibar and Denden FC of Eritrea as they seek to secure a place in the next stage of the continental competition.
