Rayon Sports have strengthened their defence with the signing of experienced Ivorian centre-back Mohamed Ouattara ahead of the 2026/27 season.
The CECAFA Kagame Cup champions announced the 27-year-old’s arrival on Sunday night after he parted ways with Syrian top-flight side Damascus Al-Ahli Club.
Ouattara arrives with considerable experience across African football, having previously played for Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca and Renaissance Club Athletic Zemamra, Tanzanian powerhouse Simba SC and Sudanese side Al Hilal.
He also had a spell with Saudi Arabian second-tier club Al-Ain SFC during the 2023/24 season.
His signing adds further depth to a Rayon Sports defence that is being reshaped ahead of a season in which the club will compete on both domestic and regional fronts.
Ouattara joins the Blues shortly after their historic CECAFA Kagame Cup triumph, which ended a 28-year wait for the regional title.
Rayon Sports are also preparing for a celebratory friendly against an international opponent as they seek to showcase the trophy to their supporters. The club’s new playing kits and official supporter jerseys for the 2026/27 season have also arrived in Rwanda.
Ouattara becomes Rayon Sports’ 15th signing of the summer transfer window and their ninth foreign recruit.
He is also the fourth central defender brought in during the current transfer window, following Charles Tchouplaou, Abbel Matumona Wakonda Kanda and Nshuti Didier.
The latest addition underlines Rayon Sports’ determination to build a stronger squad as they prepare to defend their domestic ambitions and make a deeper impact in regional competition.
