Rwanda international winger Mugisha Gilbert, popularly known as Barafinda, has completed his move to Botswana Premier League side Jwaneng Galaxy following his departure from APR FC.
The 30-year-old joins the Botswana club after spending five seasons with APR FC, where he became an important part of the team and helped the club win four Rwanda Premier League titles, including the 2025/26 championship.
Mugisha joined APR FC in 2021 after spending four years at Rayon Sports. He left the military side after his contract expired at the end of the 2025/26 season.
His move to Jwaneng Galaxy will also reunite him with Belgian coach Ivan Minnaert, who previously worked with Mugisha at Rayon Sports and has since taken charge of the Botswana club.
Jwaneng Galaxy finished second in the Botswana league last season behind Gaborone United but secured the domestic cup, earning a place in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The club is strengthening its squad ahead of the 2026/27 season, with Mugisha bringing experience from both domestic and international football.
Jwaneng Galaxy will face Mauritius’ AS Port Louis 2000 in the first preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup. The winner will meet either South Africa’s Durban City FC or Burundi’s Rukinzo FC in the second preliminary round.
Mugisha, who also represents Rwanda’s national team, becomes the latest Rwandan player to pursue a career abroad after establishing himself as one of APR FC’s experienced attacking players.
