Burundi international Jean Claude Girumugisha has officially joined Libyan giants Al Ahli Tripoli from Sudanese side Al Hilal Omdurman, completing a move that follows an impressive 2025/26 campaign.
The 21-year-old forward has signed a two-year contract with Al Ahli Tripoli, keeping him at the club until 2028. The transfer was officially confirmed on Tuesday, August 18, 2026.
Girumugisha had already linked up with Al Ahli before the official announcement and featured in friendly matches as he prepared for the new season.
He joins Al Ahli after three seasons with Al Hilal Omdurman, where he established himself as an important attacking player and also featured in the CAF Champions League. He scored in the competition during Al Hilal’s 2025/26 campaign and also represented Burundi at international level.
The move marks another significant step in the career of Girumugisha, who has become one of Burundi’s emerging attacking talents.
Al Ahli Tripoli are strengthening their squad ahead of the new campaign as they prepare to compete domestically and on the continental stage.
Girumugisha will now look to establish himself at his new club and build on his performances with Al Hilal and the Burundi national team.
The transfer also means he will continue his career in North Africa, joining one of Libya’s most prominent clubs.
