More than 200 young Rwandans have been urged to turn the values and leadership skills gained through the Imbuto Zitoshye civic education programme into practical action that benefits their communities and the country.
The third edition of the programme concluded Tuesday at Nkumba Leadership Camp after 10 days of training focused on strengthening young people’s understanding of Rwandan values and developing skills in leadership, teamwork, problem-solving and community engagement.
The participants included secondary school graduates who completed their studies through the Imbuto Foundation’s Edified Generation programme, as well as other young people involved in initiatives supported by the foundation.
Closing the programme, Northern Province Governor Mugabowagahunde Maurice challenged the participants to become agents of positive change wherever they live and work.
He urged them to uphold values such as unity, patriotism, integrity and commitment to quality work, while encouraging them to pass those values on to others.
“The values you have acquired should not remain with you alone. Share them with others and use them to contribute to building a Rwandan society based on cooperation and development,” he said.
Alice Kayumba, Executive Director in charge of National Unity and Resilience, commended the participants for completing the programme and encouraged them to translate what they learned into their everyday lives.
She urged them to maintain integrity and make national development a priority in their decisions and activities.
The programme is intended to equip young people with knowledge and values that can strengthen their contribution to society while encouraging them to take initiative in addressing challenges around them.
At the conclusion of the training, participants pledged to apply the knowledge, skills and values acquired to their personal development and community activities.
They also committed to becoming catalysts for positive change in their families and communities, building on the leadership and civic responsibility developed during the 10-day programme.
