Rwanda will have two handball referees at the inaugural IHF Women’s U16 World Championship after Gad Imanimbahafi and Jean Jacques Tuyizere were selected to officiate at the historic global tournament in Morocco.
The two Rwandan officials, who regularly officiate in the Rwanda Handball Championship, will be part of the refereeing team for the tournament scheduled for October 16–24 in Agadir. The International Handball Federation (IHF) confirms Agadir as the host city for the inaugural competition.
The championship marks the first IHF Women’s U16 World Championship, creating a new global competition level for young female handball players. Twelve teams will take part, with participants drawn from the IHF’s continental confederations.
The tournament will bring together some of the world’s leading emerging handball talent, while also providing an international platform for match officials such as Imanimbahafi and Tuyizere.
For Rwanda, their selection represents an opportunity for the country’s handball refereeing to gain further exposure on the international stage as the sport continues to develop at youth level.
The tournament is scheduled to run from October 16 to 24 in Agadir, Morocco.
