Kiyovu Sports booked their place in the 2026 FERWAFA Turbo King Super Cup final after a late 1-0 victory over Mukura VS&L in a dramatic semi-final at Kigali Pelé Stadium on Thursday.
Mugisha Didier scored the decisive goal from the penalty spot in the 90th minute after Abumuremyi was penalised for a foul inside the box, sending Kiyovu through to the final.
The game began cautiously, with both sides reluctant to take risks. Mukura enjoyed more possession but struggled to create clear-cut chances, while Kiyovu looked to threaten on the right flank through Kirongozi Richard.
The first half ended goalless.
Kiyovu coach Harrison Mark Simon made his first change at the start of the second half, replacing Bukuru Christophe with Shaban Kagayo.
The match then burst into life four minutes after the restart when Mukura captain Joseph Sackey was shown a straight red card following a foul on Nsanzimfura Keddy.
Kiyovu’s numerical advantage lasted only two minutes. Byiringiro David was sent off after deliberately handling the ball, receiving a second yellow card from referee Samuel Uwikunda.
With both teams reduced to 10 players, Mukura, coached by Momcilo Medic, took control and created several opportunities, but Kiyovu goalkeeper James Desire Bienvenue stood firm to keep the scores level.
Just when the match appeared destined for extra time, Kiyovu were awarded a penalty in the 90th minute after Abumuremyi’s foul inside the box. Mugisha Didier made no mistake from the spot to secure Kiyovu’s place in the final.
Harrison acknowledged that his team still has work to do on its fitness levels, noting that Kiyovu began preparations for the season later than planned.
Kiyovu Sports will face either Rayon Sports or Police FC in the Super Cup final.
