Rayon Sports president Murenzi Abdallah has joined the club’s delegation in Cameroon ahead of its CAF Confederation Cup preliminary-round clash against Panthère Sportive du Ndé.

Murenzi arrived in Cameroon on Wednesday night, joining a Rayon Sports squad that travelled to the country on Tuesday to prepare for Friday’s first-leg encounter.

The match will be played on Friday, September 4, with the return leg scheduled for September 12. Rayon Sports is looking to start its continental campaign on a strong note against the Cameroonian side.

Upon his arrival, Murenzi also delivered the club’s new kits for the 2026/27 season. The team is expected to officially debut the new shirts in Friday’s CAF Confederation Cup match.

However, Rayon Sports’ preparations suffered an unexpected setback on Wednesday when the team could not travel to Stade Annexe for a planned training session after failing to secure a police escort to facilitate its movement from the hotel to the training ground.

According to RBA sports journalist Ndayishimiye Reagan, popularly known as Rugaju Reagan, who is travelling with the team, the journey from Mundi Hotel to the training ground takes about 30 minutes when traffic is normal.

With heavy traffic, however, the journey can stretch beyond an hour, particularly when the team has no police escort to help clear its route.

Faced with the delay, the club opted to remain at Mundi Hotel and conduct its training there rather than spend valuable preparation time travelling through traffic.

Rayon Sports travelled to Cameroon with a 46-member delegation, including 23 players, 14 coaches and club officials, journalists, BK representatives and supporters.

The encounter against Panthère Sportive du Ndé marks another continental test for Rayon Sports as it seeks to progress in the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup. The two sides have previously met in continental competition, adding another layer of history to Friday’s encounter.
