President Paul Kagame has visited two of Salalah’s notable sites as part of his official visit to Oman, touring the Frankincense Land Museum and Royal Razat to learn more about the country’s heritage and its approach to modern agriculture.
Kagame began his programme in Salalah with a visit to the Frankincense Land Museum, where he was briefed on Oman’s history, culture and traditions, as well as the importance of frankincense to the country’s heritage and trade.
He toured sections of the museum and viewed exhibits documenting Oman’s historical development and the evolution of its society and cultural heritage.
The President later visited Royal Razat, a royal agricultural facility showcasing modern farming and livestock practices.
During the tour, Kagame was briefed on the technologies and infrastructure being used to improve agricultural production, as well as efforts to develop farming as part of a broader economic and tourism strategy.
Royal Razat also incorporates agritourism, a model that combines agricultural activities with tourism by opening farms and agricultural landscapes to visitors.
The approach forms part of Oman’s efforts to modernise agriculture, increase the value generated by the sector and strengthen its links with other areas of the economy, particularly tourism.
Kagame’s visit to the sites comes on the second day of his visit to Oman, his first as Rwanda’s President. The trip is focused on strengthening bilateral relations and identifying new areas of cooperation, including agriculture, investment, transport and energy.
The visit also highlights areas where Rwanda and Oman could exchange experience, particularly in developing agriculture as both an economic activity and a platform for tourism and investment.
