Rwanda’s Ambassador to China, Lt Gen (Rtd) Emmanuel Karenzi Karake, has met a delegation of Chinese investors as Kigali steps up efforts to attract investment from one of its key economic partners.
The investors, representing companies operating in aviation and aircraft manufacturing, machinery, energy and other sectors, were briefed on Rwanda’s business environment and opportunities for investment.
During the meeting on Tuesday, Karake highlighted Rwanda’s security, governance and efficient public institutions as some of the factors that make the country an attractive destination for investors seeking stable conditions for long-term business.
The discussions focused on potential investment projects and areas where Chinese companies could establish operations or partner with Rwandan businesses.
The delegation showed interest in learning more about opportunities available in Rwanda and exploring specific projects that could be developed in the country.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for Rwanda to promote sectors with potential to drive industrialisation and economic growth, including manufacturing, energy, aviation and technology.
The investors are expected to visit Rwanda in the coming weeks, where they will hold discussions with government institutions and private-sector players and assess potential investment opportunities.
The planned visit is expected to move the discussions from broad investment prospects to specific projects and partnerships.
The engagement comes as Rwanda seeks to deepen economic ties with China and attract more foreign direct investment, particularly in sectors that can expand productive capacity, create jobs and strengthen the country’s industrial base.
