The appeal hearing of Shema Ngoga Fabrice, president of the Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA), has been postponed after his lawyers raised objections concerning an agreement with the prosecution.
The hearing, scheduled for Thursday, September 17, at the Nyarugenge Intermediate Court, was adjourned before the court could hear the substance of Shema’s appeal against a 30-day remand order.
The court set September 23 at 9 a.m. as the new hearing date and directed the parties involved to appear.
Shema is challenging a September 2 decision by the Nyarugenge Primary Court to remand him in custody for 30 days.
The lower court ruled that there were strong grounds to continue investigating allegations against Shema, including issuing a cheque without sufficient funds and fraudulently obtaining another person’s property.
Shema, a businessman who has headed FERWAFA, remains in custody as he challenges the remand decision.
